About Ryan
Forming client relationships and solving legal problems is what makes Ryan Edmonds tick. For Ryan, every relationship is an opportunity to learn nuances about a new business, workplace or industry that can be used to solve the challenges facing his clients.
While Ryan started his career at a national law firm working with some of Canada’s largest employers, nowadays his practice is focused on helping small to medium-sized businesses and senior executives navigate the challenges of the modern workplace.
Known for his strategic advice, encyclopedic knowledge of employment law, and knack for using marginally humorous metaphors to put complex legal concepts into plain language, Ryan is a trusted advisor to employers, senior executives, and even other lawyers who have that one “quick question”.
Ryan has been an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School where he taught Individual Employment Law, a guest lecturer at University of Toronto’s Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources, and a panelist at various employment law seminars organized by the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Human Resources Professionals Association.
Ryan’s insights into employment law have been reported by media outlets such as CBC Radio, the Globe & Mail, and Canadian Lawyer magazine.
When not employment lawyering, managing a law firm, mentoring associates, or being a spouse / uncle / brother / son, Ryan is likely building a new and unnecessarily powerful computer, or tending to one of the thirty-eight plants he somehow came to own during the pandemic.
